Yale and August Apps Get Smarter: New Features Put More Control and Convenience at Your Fingertips

Guided by customer feedback, Yale enhances the user experience, starting with new Battery Insights feature

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., May 27, 2026 – Yale and August, leaders in smart home security and part of Fortune Brands Innovations, Inc., today announced a series of updates coming to the Yale Access and August Home apps throughout 2026 designed to enhance the user experience, making the apps easier to use, more reliable, and more insightful. Based on customer feedback, the brands are introducing Battery Insights, now available starting with the Yale Assure Lock 2 line. Battery Insights is a new feature that provides smarter alerts and guidance to help users stay ahead of battery replacements. This feature builds on the latest updates to the Yale Access app and August Home app, including a refreshed interface and enhanced connectivity (1). These updates reinforce Yale’s dedication to making every front door smarter, more secure, and effortlessly connected.

Key Enhancements 

Throughout 2026, users will benefit from several app updates, including smarter battery insights and notifications, optimized Wi-Fi performance, more intuitive app navigation, and an improved setup experience for select smart locks.

• Smarter Battery Insights(2): Now available, the Yale Access app gives Assure Lock 2 users clearer insights and greater control over their locks’ battery performance, ensuring reliable everyday use. The app estimates remaining battery life based on usage patterns, tracks battery history, and delivers optional low-battery notifications. 

• Enhanced App Design: The Yale Access app and the August Home app have a fresh look, including a redesigned home screen and updated interface that delivers a more modern experience. New accessibility features are also available, including optional haptic feedback and font size configuration. 

• Faster, More Reliable Wi-Fi Connectivity: Yale Assure Lock 2 with Wi-Fi modules now support 5 GHz Wi-Fi, providing faster and more reliable connections. Locks automatically select the optimal Wi‑Fi band, offering stronger and more consistent performance. 

• Enhanced Performance and Reliability: Later this year, additional updates will roll out to further improve the Yale and August smart lock and app experience, including a streamlined Apple HomeKit setup process, upgraded notifications to keep users informed of battery life alerts, and overall faster performance.

All Yale Access and August Home app updates, including features that are already live and those coming later this year, will be delivered automatically to compatible devices as they become available, requiring no additional setup and, in most cases, no new hardware beyond keeping the app and firmware up to date. Through these continuous improvements, Yale and August reinforce their leadership in smart home security and commitment to integrating customer feedback, offering users smarter, simpler, and more dependable ways to protect, connect, and securely access their homes.
