Yale Introduces Its Latest Smart Lock for Google Home
The new Yale Smart Lock with Matter, designed for Google Home, will be available later this summer
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., March 28, 2025 ー Today Yale is announcing the new Yale Smart Lock with Matter, the brand’s next-generation smart lock designed for Google Home. The new smart lock will feature easy installation, extended battery life, multiple unlocking options—including entry code, app, or traditional key—and seamless integration with Google Home and other Matter-certified smart home platforms. With the Yale Smart Lock, the company is creating a secure, convenient, and smooth smart home experience for Google Home and Matter users.
Building on the popularity of the Nest x Yale Lock, the new Yale Smart Lock is designed to complement the Nest Doorbell, both aesthetically and functionally, allowing Google Home users to take advantage of their favorite smart lock features, including managing household access from anywhere, editing passcodes, creating guest profiles, and receiving lock and unlock activity notifications. The Yale Smart Lock has built-in Matter over Thread technology, powering up to 12 months of battery life and streamlining connections between the lock and Google Home, as well as other Matter-enabled platforms. This product is the second Yale smart lock to feature Matter technology.
“Customers trust Yale products for their reliability and convenience, and we’re proud to introduce another smart lock designed especially for Google Home and Matter users,” said Garrett Lovejoy, Vice President of Category Management at Fortune Brands Innovations, Yale’s parent company. “The Yale Smart Lock with Matter builds on our successful relationship with Google—combining Yale’s legacy of trusted security with Google’s commitment to smart home excellence, delivering a seamlessly connected experience that homeowners can depend on."
“With Google Home, we're focused on making it easier than ever to manage all of the devices in your smart home – from setup and control to seamless automation," said Anish Kattukaran, Chief Product Officer at Google Home & Nest. "Our continued partnership with Yale, a trusted leader in home security, reinforces our commitment to helping customers create a safe and secure home environment.”
As part of this new product release, Yale and Google will no longer manufacture the Nest x Yale Lock, which first launched in 2018. Existing Nest x Yale Lock users will continue to receive software and security updates without interruption to their lock’s functionality. The remaining Nest x Yale Lock inventory will be available for purchase through the Google Store and authorized retailers while supplies last.
The Yale Smart Lock with Matter will be available later this summer.
