The Nest x Yale Lock replaces most common deadbolt locks and will fit several standard doors that are between 1-3/8" and 2-1/4" thick. Only the thickness and *Backset will matter. Your door can be any width or height.
The bore hole for the deadbolt must be 2-1/8" with a backset* of 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" and an edge bore hole of 1".
The Nest x Yale Lock will work with wood, metal, and fiberglass doors. However, it will not be compatible with glass doors, sliding doors, mortise locks, or multi-point locks.
*Backset is the distance between the edge of your door and the center of your deadbolt's hole. ie. If your deadbolt center is more than 2 3/4" (70mm) away from the edge of your door, it will not be compatible. You can refer to the installation guide for additional information.
The Nest x Yale Lock is a secure and battery powered lock that does not utilize your home's Wi-Fi network to lock and unlock your door using the keypad. The lock uses 4 standard AA alkaline batteries. With standard usage, your lock will last for approximately 1 year and will start receiving low battery warnings around 5 weeks before full depletion.
When your Nest door lock runs low on battery, you will receive a notification on your phone via the Nest App, where you will also be able to check the lock's battery status. You will also be able to see a red low battery light on your keypad when in use. Once your battery reaches critically low levels, you will be notified again before it is completely depleted. if your battery dies, you won't be locked out completely. Take a 9v alkaline battery and hold at the terminals at the bottom of your lock to provide temporary power. You can then re-enter your passcode and unlock the door.
The Nest x Yale Lock is simple to install. View our installation guide and videos for details.
